I believe that these cell phones are so popular, because Google Android has developed such a user friendly smart phone. Then millions were spent in advertising to convince you that you needed Android phones. You must have seen the many prime time slots on TV, heard countless radio commercials, seen billboards, and prints ads too.

My Android Option

If you purchased one of the unlocked Android phones from one of the sources in China, you could have the same smart phone, for much less money. The Chinese realy sell cheap Android phones. Now if you get one from there, it won’t be called a catchy name, like the “HTC Droid incredible”. But there are an enormous number of Android Phones to choose from that give you the same advanced technology, without the high priced tag that come along with a 2 year contract when you take into account all that you pay them over 2 years.

I know that this strategy certainly won’t be adopted by everyone. There are some people attracted to these name brands as a status symbol I guess. To me a can of corn, is a can of corn. I don’t need the name brand “Del Monte” as long as it has the same characteristics, and performs the same , I’m OK. Do you understand my point?

The huge price difference between what you would pay for an unlocked HTC Droid, and for the same technology from China would buy you a nice little vacation. The same scenario would develop, as I said , if you entered a contract with any of the cell phone carrier to get your “Droid” free. You would end up paying way more than the phone is worth.
